Research and innovation form an essential part of the academic mission of The Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti. Faculty and staff engage in continuous research activities supported by TetFund Institutional-Based Research (IBR) and other collaborative grants, ensuring that research findings translate into practical applications and national development outcomes.

Research activities are coordinated through specialized committees and research clusters within the various schools and departments. Each team focuses on thematic areas such as technology innovation, entrepreneurship, food security, digital systems, and sustainable engineering.

The Polytechnic’s Centre for Research, Innovation and Development (CRID) provides oversight, technical support, and capacity building for researchers. It also encourages multidisciplinary collaborations and promotes partnerships with industries, government agencies, and academic institutions within and outside Nigeria.

The Polytechnic benefits from regular TetFund Research Grants, which fund staff projects, publications, and prototype development.
